Christchurch

Still cloudy in Lake Tekapo this morning, but at least it's not raining.

Pretty nice views from up here...

...we're at the Mount John observatory.  The night sky here is supposed to be amazing, but we had too much cloud to enjoy it.

It started to clear just as we left Lake Tekapo... we got a hint of the lovely blue water.

Quite stunning, on the shore of the lake with the mountains behind.

We took a quick tour around Christchurch on our way to our next hosts.

They are still recovering from an earthquake that happened in February 2011.

Many of the downtown buildings had to be demolished.

Much of the downtown core is still blocked off.  Could be a set from a movie... a zombie movie!

Our new hosts have very photogenic chickens.
