Rotorua

We went to the market this morning, then A took us to lookout over Whakatane.

More Whakatane.

They have beautiful gardens at their home.

And a fish pond, with goldfish.

After lunch we took off to Roturua.  Another volcano along the way.

Rotorua is sometimes called RotoVegas... its a tourist town, full of fun stuff to do.  Home of the Zorb!

We decided to be tourists today and went up the Skyline Gondola for a view over the city.

At the top we got our helmets...

...for the LUGE!

So fun!  I needed both hands though, so this was the best photo I could take...

Back up for another go...

Time for the intermediate route!

And waiting in line for one last go!  The advanced route was by far the best... you even get air as you go over big drops.

All tuckered out, after too much fun.

Stopped at Soda Springs for a dip.

The water is all bubbly, hence the name.

Chris found a good spot.

I went a bit too close to the source (that dark opening in the background) and it was a tad hot!  The top layer of the water can be super hot, while it's still quite cool at your feet... hard to find the right mix!

Ahhh, that's better.

Back at home we were treated to a feast!  A is a chef, and their neighbour is a caterer, and they made amazing food for us.

Salad, stuffed peppers, chicken with a plum glaze, amazing pork, and delicious potatoes.

And Pavlova for dessert.  Finally we got to try this traditional NZ dessert!  Meringue, cream and kiwi.  yummy!

I approve.
