Octopus: Day 1

We spent the last two days at Octopus Resort on Waya Island in the Yasawas… a chain of amazing islands that sweep around the western side of Fiji’s main island.   A shuttle picked us up at our hotel and drove us north to the marina where we could catch the boat to the resort.   On the drive we saw sugar cane being harvested by hand with a machete, and trucks piled high and wide with the cut canes.  We also drove by the “sleeping giant” in the mountain.
Sugar cane stacked on trams along the side of the road.
It wasn’t until I got to the marina that I realized I hadn’t seen the water since arriving.  The town of Nadi is nothing special, and if I were to come back I would head to the islands as soon as possible.

It took about an hour and fifteen minutes to get to the Octopus Resort by boat. Once we were out in the water we could really appreciate how many islands there are in Fiji - 322 I believe.  And they are all amazing. We saw dolphins swimming and playing, but zipped by too fast to get a photo.

Arriving at the Octopus Resort.
Our little bungalow.

I feel like I'm in a Corona commercial.
Fijian performance.
That was day 1 at the Octopus resort.  Lots more to share from the rest of our stay, but will wait for a better internet connection.  Overall I highly recommend Fiji to everyone.  Friendly people, great service, perfect weather, and by far the most beautiful place I've ever been.

  1. Looks Awesome! Keep the pics coming and clean; Chris don't want to see the man thong.

  3. Wow! I would be tempted to spend the rest of the trip right there. Seems like the perfect vacation spot.

  4. You do look like you're in a Corona commercial! It looks so uncrowded compared to a lot of resorty places you see and I LOVE the bungalow :)
